ئىتوتلار

The Uyghur "itot" (comedic sketches) are an excellent - voire, invaluable - way to become acquainted with some of the finer points of Uyghur society, as they reflect a sort of "inside" humor while also addressing important societal issues. For language learners in particular, they offer a challenging but rewarding exercise in grasping truly colloquial Uyghur and wit that are beyond the scope of language textbooks or even most classroom education.

As understanding itot dialogue can be rather challenging, even for advanced-level students of the language, I have decided to start transcribing a number of them - notably, those of Abdukerim Abliz - and putting up the transcriptions together with the subtitled video versions here (using the approximate transcriptions that have already been published as a base). All of these have been checked over by native speakers of the language, with the native speaker's opinion being given priority at any spots where we heard different things. That being said, there may still of course be a few errors, and so I more than encourage those who find any to let me know immediately, so that I may fix them and upload better versions.

I've also started working on English translations and putting those up as they get done (intended for a wider English-speaking audience that may not be familiar with the Uyghur people or culture).
