بىر with One-Time Actions

«بىرلا قېتىملىق ھەرىكەت بىلەن ئىشلىتىلىدىغان «بىر

The number بىر may be used as an adverb in a manner analogous to the English "once". This very often occurs when the subject of the sentence is contemplating trying something, and is often used with the auxiliary verb باقماق ("to try"). In many cases, this role of بىر doesn't add much semantically, but rather gives the sentence a slightly different stylistic flavor (perhaps akin to the English "let me try" versus "let me have a try").

Let me have a taste.
.بىر يەپ باقاي

Let me go over there.
.مەن ئۇ يەرگە بىر باراي

Give the clothes a try.
.سىز بىر كىيىپ بېقىڭ

I would like to go to Russia.
.روسىيەگە بىر بارغۇم بار

If you go there, you'll know.
.ئۇ يەرگە بىر بارسىڭىز بىلىسىز
