The Adjective-to-Verb Derivation Suffix ى

سۈپەتتىن پېئىل ياسايدىغان «ى» ئارقا قوشۇمچىسى

The derivational suffix ى is only added to a few monosyllabic adjectives, and derives verbs that have the meaning of "to become [that adjective]". Just about all, if not all, adjectives ending in an ئا|ئە+consonant will have the ئا|ئە raised to an ئې.

rich + [to become] = to become rich
باي + ى = بېيى ـ

peaceful, calm + [to become] = to become calm, to become peaceful
تىنچ + ى = تىنچى ـ

solid, firm + [to become] = to become solid, to become firm
بەك + ى = بېكى ـ

Now that you've struck it rich, be on your guard, eh? It's possible that there'll be more people who'll want to cook your goose.
