The Foreign-Word-to-Verb Derivation Suffix لا|لە

يات سۆزلەردىن پېئىل ياسايدىغان «لا|لە» ئارقا قوشۇمچىسى

Somewhat chaotically, the suffix لا|لە can add to words that are not actually Uyghur (usually, they are Mandarin) to make verbs. This (largely modern) phenomenon is typically not encouraged, and is unlikely to be encountered in good, proper writing, but will be heard in spoken Uyghur - especially in more metropolitan areas where Mandarin has a strong influence. It may also be seen as further testament to the productivity of لا|لە, since it is one of the immediate defaults that Uyghur speakers fall on when "Uyghurizing" foreign words. It should be noted that sometimes the original word will already be a verb, in which case the لا|لە plays a pure Uyghurization role.

加 (to add) + [Uyghur verb] = to add
جا ـ + لا = جالا ـ
