Prefixes in Uyghur

ئۇيغۇر تىلىدىكى ئالدى قوشۇمچىلار

Prefixes in Uyghur are similar, in essence, to those in English, in that they are attached to a beginning of a word to create a new word with a related meaning. Unlike English, which has very many prefixes (e.g., "anti-", "de-", "ex-", "non-", "pro-", etc.), Uyghur only has a few, all of which come from Persian. The majority of them (بىـ، ناـ، بەتـ) are limited to forming adjectives, with only a single prefix (ھەمـ) devoted to nouns.
