The Noun-to-Noun Derivation Suffix چاق|چەك|چۇق|چۈك

The suffix چاق|چەك|چۇق|چۈك can be added to certain nouns to create a diminutive version of that noun (analogously to the English suffix -let, for example, as in "booklet" or "droplet"). Sometimes, the new noun is not a direct diminution but rather a smaller object that is somehow present in or part of the original noun (in this sense, the use of -let in words like "wristlet" may also be seen as a fair analogue). Unfortunately, harmony rules do not help when having to choose between چاق and چۇق or between چەك and چۈك, and the proper forms must simply be memorized.
